Welcome to the website of the Angus Transport Group, we are an organisation based in Montrose with the aim of preserving and operating our small collection of Vintage Road vehicles. The group has been in existence since 1989 and was formed after a group of Railway enthusiasts felt the need to preserve another part of Britain's transport Heritage. Thus the Angus Transport Group was formed. Through the groups history many interesting buses have passed through our hands, from AEC Monocoaches to Bristols and even Daimlers. Currently the group has 4 buses and a 1952 British Railways Scammell Scarab, owned by the Brechin Railway Preservation Society, on site and a further 5 buses based elsewhere. The buses in the groups Collection include a 1963 AEC Reliance in Burnett of Mintlaw Colours, a 1974 Leyland Leopard currently under restoration, two 1980 Leyland Leopards new to Northern Scottish a 1982 Leyland Leopard new to Cumberland, a 1983 Leyland Leopard new to Northern Scottish being restored to Strathtay Livery and a 1987 Leyland Tiger new to Northen Scottish. The group in comparison to others of its kind, it quite small, with a current member base of around 14, with around half doing the work on the vehicles, this is a very good ratio for a preservation group. Usually their workers to members ratio is 10%. |
