New to W.Alexander and Sons (Northern) Ltd in 1979 an Alexander T-Type bodied Leyland Leopard with 49 dual purpose seats.
New to Dundee depot, this vehicle would stay in the Dundee area on the shake up in 1985 and transfer to the newly created Strathtay Scottish. In 1989 it was moved to Montrose to become their ‘Private Hire’ vehicle and remained there until withdrawal in 1991. It was reregistered by Strathtay to 565 BNX which was retained for the MD’s car when it was transferred to Yorkshire Traction’s subsidiary Lincolnshire RoadCar, whilst there they added the set of Plaxton recliners it has today and it gained the registration JFW 915T. It remained there until it was withdrawn in 2002 and entered preservation.
It is the only remaining T-Type from the Strathtay fleet. Currently it wears the later version of the Strathtay Coach livery which was applied by Yorkshire Tractions central works at Barnsley. Subsequently it was owned by the family of one of Strathtay’s senior managers before coming home to Angus once more.
